The Penny is about to drop – finally.

Guess who’s back?

It has been a minute since we last saw the Nike Air Penny 1, but Penny Hardaway’s OG sneaker is back! for 2018. And it arrives in a familiar theme to any OG sneakerhead.

It’s inspired by none other than Lil Penny, the pint-sized Penny puppet voiced by a young Chris Rock that helped push the sneaker into instant popularity through TV ads in the mid 1990s.

Vivid ‘Deep Royal’ and ‘Gym Red’ shades highlight the upper, harking back to the ‘Pros’ uniform Lil Penny wore during a dream sequence in one of the classic Nike ads. The ‘Pros’ team is highlighted on the heel, as is the number ‘1/2’, referencing the puppet’s miniature stature. A crisp white midsole is offset with a bright ruby-red Swoosh.
