Parents are Actually Hiring for Fortnite Coaches for their Kids

Wait . . . what?

The Wall Street Journal has just reported that parents across the globe are actually paying for private Fortnite tutors for their kids.

Yeah, you read that right. Not school tutors, Fortnite tutors.

One British mother tried to justify her decision to the WSJ by saying that “there’s pressure not to just play it but to be really good at it — You can imagine what that was like for him at school.”

But where does one even find a coach for the multi-Billion dollar franchise? Like everything else, they’re mainly found on social media and the internet in “dedicated coaching marketplaces” like Gamer Sensei.

Coachd charge anywhere from $15 to $35 USD an hour — sometimes even more — for lessons. Some parents are also paying for the Fortnite teaching sessions in hopes of training their children to become successful “e-sports athletes.”

Naturally, The Wall Street Journal article has attracted a crowd of criticism on social media — but doesn’t that happen with any article that challenges the old ways of life? Humans are, after all, creatures of habit, and instinctively don’t like change for their generation to the next.

For what it’s worth, we’re not surprised. As niches like sneakers and video games continue to soar in popularity, so will niche businesses looking to capitalize on every and all opportunities.
