You could say that the adidas 4DFWD has quickly risen to the top of the performance running category, but in reality, the silhouette has been in the works for years. Built upon over a decade of data, the other-worldly tech offers the ability to fine-tune midsoles to specific patterns of movement so that athletes can enjoy the precision performance with every stride. Though it’s forward-thinking in design, technology, and even its name, the shoe has wasted no time digging into adidas history for inspiration. The first to do so is this adidas 4DFWD “Superstar” which dons the Shell Toe’s famous white on white and three black stripes.
Though void of gold foil accents and Shell Toes, the pair boasts the classic color combo to perfection. In fact, it could be called many things, as the arrangement has been seen on almost everything in adidas’ back catalog, though no one quite wears it like the Superstar. Differing slightly in blocking, the pair is fitted with a black rubber outsole, and is void of any heel overlay — but the comparison is tight.
