Staten Island-born retailer Asphalt is teaming up with adidas for a limited-edition Samba inspired by one of New York City’s most familiar bakery staples: the cannoli.
The adidas x Asphalt Samba pulls directly from the pastry counter, pairing warm wheat tones inspired by a cannoli shell with deep chocolate accents and touches of pink. A removable cannoli charm makes the reference even more obvious, while an illustrated cannoli footbed carries the theme inside the shoe.
Asphalt also built plenty of customization into the pair. Three interchangeable Velcro tongues correspond with colors used across the sneaker, while the shoe can also be worn with the tongue removed entirely. Three lace options give wearers another way to switch up the look.
The concept goes beyond dessert, though. Asphalt says the collaboration is rooted in the small neighborhood details that shape New York — from old-school bakeries and family pastry runs to the way personal style changes from block to block.
Only 600 pairs will be released, with each individually numbered from 1 through 600.
The adidas x Asphalt Samba releases September 25 at 10 AM ET through all Asphalt locations and online. Retail is set at $130, with sizing ranging from 4 through 13, including half sizes.
