OG Post 1.20.20 // From the looks of things, Point God Derrick Rose will be earning a callup to All-Star weekend in 2020, his first since 2012. The League’s youngest-ever MVP has encountered many challenges since his horrific run of injuries, and, to his credit, he’s persevered, building slowly back to form. Should he be recognized for selection in 2020 would exemplify one of the greatest individual achievements in basketball history — and it would be made all the more special being hosted in his hometown of Chicago. But regardless of the selection, adidas will be honoring the champ during the weekend with a 10-year anniversary reissue of his “Simeon” D Rose 1 from the All-Star Game in 2011.
The pair, seen above on foot of Rose, arrives in a bold yellow makeup, paired with royal blue accents that tribute his Simeon High School days. The pair is relatively simplistic in both color and material, with its all-leather upper complimented by classic mesh tongues and nylon lining, while the heel cup and outsole both arrive in rubberized finishes. Completing the design is a bold Three Stripe strike in the rear, blue collar liners and #1 PE branding on the medial lacestay.
Official images of the 2020 reissue have landed ahead of their release on February 14th, 2020. You can expect to see these in action over the showcase weekend, with Derrick set to appear in the Skills Challenge and — hopefully — in the main event on the Sunday.
