adidas Originals has unveiled the adiZero Goukana, a new silhouette that bridges performance heritage and contemporary street culture. Making its debut through a limited-edition launch with Los Angeles retailer UNDEFEATED, the release sets the tone for a new chapter in the brand’s lifestyle catalog.
Rooted in the design DNA of the 2008 Adios Neftenga—a prototype that resurfaced through a Wales Bonner collaboration in 2024—the Goukana pays homage to adidas’ storied performance lineage. The name "Goukana," meaning "luxurious and plush" in Japanese, honors the legacy of Mr. Toshiaki Omori, the designer behind the original adiZero line.
True to its name, the Goukana arrives with a premium suede, mesh, and reflective synthetic upper, anchored by an oversized sole unit engineered to match today’s baggier silhouettes. While lifestyle in intent, the Goukana borrows Lightstrike cushioning from the brand’s elite marathon and basketball models, delivering lightweight responsiveness and off-duty comfort already favored by athletes like Jalen Green and Travis Hunter.
A vibrant yellow finish nods to both the original Neftenga and racing culture, complementing the LA-designed silhouette's dynamic, city-inspired vibe. Supporting the release is a community-driven campaign, with adidas partnering with grassroots organizations like Motoring While Black and Fabrica de Rosas to spotlight diverse subcultures that shape Los Angeles.
To celebrate, UNDEFEATED will host a ping pong event at Terasaki Budokan Rec Center on Tuesday, May 6. The retail pre-launch will follow on Saturday, May 10, at UNDEFEATED Silver Lake, with special appearances, food, music, and exclusive giveaways.
The adiZero Goukana will be available August 2025 on adidas.com and at select flagship locations. Until then enjoy detailed images credits to LA-based Little Tokyo Table Tennis (LTTT)
