Racing themes carry over to trainers with such ease — after all, that’s what they were made for. But historically, racing-edition sneakers have been centralized around the sport of motor racing, not the bi-pedal format that shoe brands have built their brands around. Think of the Jordan Brand Motorsport series, or even as recently as adidas’ All-Star sneakers for James Harden, Kyle Lowry, and Dame Lillard.

But now the Three Stripes will be taking it back to the pavement with marathon bib-themed tongue tag additions to their fan-favorite NMD silhouette. Although it serves an alternate take on the usual Trefoil decal, minimal Three Stripes branding still present, with the focus surrounding the bold black racing number “3003” as the lone flash of black in an otherwise red and white makeup.
