Back in 2015, adidas set themselves a monumental task of replacing all virgin polyester with a recycled equivalent by 2024. The big-name silhouettes like the Stan Smith and Superstar have taken this on with ease, as to has its newer models. Joining the campaign is the new adidas NMD S1, which has just surfaced in a fully-recyclable effort as part of the brand’s wider “Made To Be Remade” collection.
Though it looks similar to the run-of-the-mill releases, here its materials can be fully-recycled, with adidas promising to take back after wear to make a new product. Gone are the mid-foot translucent panels in favor of all-knit, with recycled foam elements of the midsole visible courtesy of a semi-translucent sole. Aside from that, the pair is on-par with releases past, though here it’s delivered in a predominately “Core Black” color, with select pops of white branding and heel weave rounding out the design.
Enjoy official images of the pair below, and if you want to join the fight against waste, then look for these to hit the adidas CONFIRMED app on Thursday, May 19th, for $220 USD.
If you’re planning on picking up a pair on the day, make sure you head to our dedicated adidas Release Dates Calendar to set yourself a reminder for the drop.
