adidas Pro Model 2G “Gold Medal” Releases July 6th
This absolute classic from the Three Stripes hardwood category returned earlier this year — and it came back bouncier than ever. When it hit the market in 2003, the adidas Pro Model 2G quickly became a favorite amongst basketballers around the globe, thanks to updated herringbone traction, adiPrene cushioning, solid construction and it’s heritage shell-toe design — and it didn’t hurt that adidas’ has big names in Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan endorsing it — even LeBron James wore PE pairs during his salad days at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. It’s $75 price point was a big win, too. Now, having returned with added Bounce tech in everything form OG and Easter colorways alike, the Shell-Toe’d silhouette is back to celebrate what would have been the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games with a special-edition “Gold Medal” release.
Paired with white accents throughout, the title thematic is ushered in across the pair’s upper in metallic fashion. Shell Toes, too, take on the first-place finish with a translucent-gold toe, before streams of white flow through the pair’s midsoles, Three Stripes, tongue, liners, and laces. Outsoles arrive with a milky-translucent effect, with matching white brand embroidery at the heel and forefoot completing the stock-standard features. Finalizing the celebratory sneaker is the inclusion of “20” tongue branding, and Japanese character-printed insoles.
