Few designers have reshaped modern womenswear quite like Grace Wales Bonner. Her refined blend of tailoring, sport, and cultural storytelling has filtered far beyond the runway — and her ongoing partnership with adidas has played a major role in that shift. Over the past few years, long-tongue terrace shoes, faux-fur uppers, and animal-textured finishes have flooded the market. What once felt niche now feels mainstream, and much of that movement traces back to Wales Bonner’s reinterpretation of archival adidas silhouettes.
Now, another entrant joins the fold — this time without her name attached.
The adidas Samba LT “Burgundy Cow” arrives as the latest evolution of the long-tongue terrace revival. Built on the classic Samba foundation, the pair swaps traditional leather panels for rich burgundy cowhide across the quarter and toe box, delivering texture and depth in equal measure. Matching leather overlays wrap the mudguard and eyestay, while creamy Three Stripes cut sharply through the upper for contrast.
The defining feature remains the extended fold-over tongue, finished in off-white with subtle embossed adidas branding. Underfoot, a semi-translucent gum sole keeps things rooted in terrace heritage, balancing the statement upper with familiar tooling.

Though it lacks Wales Bonner’s branding, the design language is unmistakable. The appetite for tactile materials and exaggerated proportions hasn’t slowed, and adidas appears keen to continue exploring that space within its in-line catalog. The adidas Samba LT “Burgundy Cow” feels like a natural continuation — less runway capsule, more mass-market response to a trend that refuses to fade.
Expect the adidas Samba LT “Burgundy Cow” to release this summer via adidas.com and select retailers.
