Adidas push to fully sustainable sneakers has been well documented, with recyclable materials now running rife through almost every Three Stripe footwear release on the market. Their newest recyclable material is one that’s arguably been in the works for a while, rLEA (recycled leather) Leatherknit, an obvious counter to Nike’s renewable Flyleather.
The material is listed to debut atop this Ultra BOOST High, with the textile tacked onto the liner and cage overlays — and quite possibly the suede clips and heel pull. The black-on-black pairing hosts a Primeknit upper of — you guessed it — black, with a moccasin-like stitch applied to the pair’s suede toe cap. There are a handful of callouts to the OG Ultra BOOST, too, with purple detail at the lateral Leatherknit tag and collar thread, as well as a visible purple pop at the exposed Torsion system underfoot. Staple white BOOST midsoles and black Continental outsoles complete the design.
