adidas have laid a hefty burden on its ZX linage, with the Torsion-loaded sneakers forming the bulk of the brand’s retro lineup — especially it’s collaborative efforts. In order to avoid overload, the brand has devised a new silhouette to help share the strain. Enter the ZX 10/8 which, as the name suggests, blends elements of both the 10000 and 8000 silhouettes. Though most of it’s DNA derives from the former (which itself tasks from the entire ZX line preceding it) there are some clear cues to the original 8000, namely the heel clips and sole units. To kick things off, the Three Stripes is delivering this delicious adidas ZX 10/8 “Candyverse” — and it’s absolutely as sweet as it sounds.
Orange sherbet uppers arrive alongside mint tongues, purple liners, and candy pink toes. Bright white at the toe, eyestays, and heel clips are reminiscent of heritage hard-boiled candies, the latter even arriving clad with classic red candy stripes. Bone suede overlays, sail midsoles, and black rubber outsoles tone things down a little, but the theme is redeemed at the candy wrapper tongue tags up top to complete the design.
