The Beate Karlsson-led AVAVAV recently showed its Fall/Winter 2025 collection during Milan Fashion Week. Titled "The Hole," the showcase featured models "rising from the dead" to present Karlsson and team's latest work – including new styles from their Adidas Originals partnership.
Last November, the burgeoning relationship delivered the audacious Superfinger Superstar, one of the iconic shell-toe's wildest updates in its 55-year history. "The Hole" consisted of another take on the old school basketball shoe by AVAVAV. While a bit tamer, it still reinterprets the Adidas Originals classic in an avant-garde form. Dubbed the Modified Superstar, the sneaker consists of a high-quality leather build and bulbous, slightly-raised toe. Karlsson's update isn't too far off from both Kerwin Frost and Pharrell Williams' latest takes on the Superstar.
AVAVAV also showcased the Moonrubber Megaride during its Milan presentation. An experimental spin on the already-peculiar A3 Megaride from the year 2000. Karlsson's modification to the retro technical style seemingly keeps its DNA intact, but covers the silhouette's bottom-half with a clog-shaped rubber element. Akin to the Modified Superstar, AVAVAV Moonrubber Megaride presents eyebrow-raising proportions that won't win the mainstream crowd over, but that'll find homes amongst niche fashion enthusiasts.
Launch colorways of both experimental updates to the Adidas Originals roster present a healthy mix of understated and animated tones.
Enjoy detailed shots from AVAVAV's Milan Fashion Week show below. Both the Moonrubber Megaride and Modified Superstar by Karlsson are expected to hit the Adidas CONFIRMED platform by October. Pricing is yet to be determined.
