Donovan Mitchell and his Cleveland Cavaliers are getting ready to take on the Detroit Pistons in the NBA's 2026 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Ahead of the occasion, number 45's adidas Basketball family has taken to social media to tease the release of the long-anticipated D.O.N. Issue #8.
The eighth signature sneaker for Mitchell was teased via a short video that plays into the NBA All-Star's "Spida" nickname. The clip sees three Mitchells pointing to one another as a reference to the widely-popular "Spider-Man Pointing at Spider-Man" meme. The trio of Spidas are wearing an unreleased pair of the adidas D.O.N. Issue #8 in a red-and-blue gradient finish that further nods to Marvel's friendly neighborhood hero.
Mitchell and the Three Stripes have previously worked with Marvel on officially-licensed Spider-Man collaborations. It's possible the upcoming basketball shoe, then, will form part of the partnership's next chapter, though the pair could also be simple color execution. Nevertheless, the Spider-Man-reminiscent aesthetic couples with performance-oriented elements and eye-catching 3-Stripes branding to re-cement adidas' standing within the world of high-level hoops.
