END. Clothing might've opened its doors in Newcastle upon Tyne, England in 2005 with a simple mission of selling cool menswear, but it's become a global player in the world of retail. As it celebrates its 20th anniversary, the British institution has tapped longtime partners to develop commemorative collaborations. Its work with Adidas Originals needs no introduction, with the duo tallying up projects over the years. The BW Army "Chip Shop" release marks the latest linkup.
Built atop the vintage silhouette that the Three Stripes has only recently reintroduced to market, END.'s latest collaboration with Adidas skews on the understated. The BW Army skews towards the minimal, boasting a predominantly white leather upper. As an ode to the retailer's original location, the project takes on several design elements inspired by Newcastle's coastlines and whatever catch the day brings. Scale-reminiscent side panels, fluffy tongues, and dark grey suede come together to inject some personality into the sneaker. Every aforementioned component sits atop a classic gum brown sole unit.
To cement the BW Army "Chip Shop" collaboration as part of END. Clothing's 20th anniversary celebration, Christiaan Ashworth and John Parker placed a collage of past linkups with the Three Stripes across the insoles. The playful touch mirrors the tradition of wrapping fish and chips in newspaper.
Additionally, the special Originals-backed offering arrives in a custom co-branded shoe box. Inside, the same collage print appears on tissue paper, which is also stamped with a fish-shaped logo reminiscent of restaurants' neon signs.
