New York’s Extra Butter has always done things, well, a little extra. If you’ve been lucky enough to step foot into their Lower East Side establishment, you’ll know just how unique the boutique and independent lifestyle label can be. Their collaborative footwear approaches have been no different, with outta-this-world approaches like the Saucony Shadow Master “Space Snack” to the pop-culture-inspired Extra Butter x Asics Gel Saga “Cottonmouth” showing the brand’s versatility. Their next project is again distinct, with this preppy Extra Butter x adidas SC Premiere showing just how adaptable their styling can be.

Of course, any preppy sneaker starts out with a white leather base, here trimmed with conventional bourgeois navy blue, red and metallic gold. But it can’t be that simple for the New Yorkers. Extra Butter’s extra-ness comes on full display, utilizing cable knit sweater weaves as the pair’s upper, leaving no mistake as to the pair’s inspirations. Adding more touches of luxe to the pair are gold foil EB heel branding, leather liners, and insoles, and dual-branded Consortium leather tongue tags — the latter featuring signature V-Neck detail as found on the aforementioned sweaters. Navy and red ribbon detail hits the heels and is again channeled on the lateral quarter tag, and the pair comes complete with wavy leather overlays and a navy-popped white sole unit.
