Sean "Seanie" Holland's HELLSTAR has gone from small-scale operation to globally-known in just five years. For its latest move, the Los Angeles-based imprint has reworked the iconic Adidas Superstar.
Inspired by the idea that people can still shine in the most challenging of circumstances, HELLSTAR is known for a bold, rebellious aesthetic. Its first-time collaboration with Adidas Originals is no different, donning a predominantly black-and-white color scheme accompanied by flame graffiti and panels; haphazard stitching, and "reconstructed" tongue and lace guards. The result is a "shell-toe" that could very well be mistaken for an ornate custom job.
Red and orange accents appear throughout the project, with trefoil logos joining the mix via laces, footbeds, and a special tab at the spine. HELLSTAR emblems also claim real estate on the 55-year-old silhouette, cementing one of street fashion's youngest current successes in the annals of Three Stripes collaborations.
Stay tuned for firm Adidas.com release details and official photos. In the meantime, enjoy early shots of the pair, courtesy of HELLSTAR's Discord community.
