Fresh off its 30th-anniversary celebration of Torsion tech, adidas will be taking their revered lineage into its fourth decade with another trip down memory lane. Across 2020 and 2021, the brand is revisiting its A-ZX concept, a project from 2008-09 that enlisted a wide range of global partners to put their touch of a bevy of 26 lettered ZX releases. Back in August last year, adidas headed out to SoCal’s Joshua Tree in collaboration with the National Parks Foundation for a ZX 5000 for the letter N. Now the brand is migrating northwest into Wyoming for another link-up with the NP foundation, this time on the adidas ZX 8000 “Yellowstone”
Once again, adidas has fittingly decked the silhouette with an outdoor-inspired aesthetic with rugged Codura ripstop fabrications and a very ACG-like palette. The former arrives tinted in muted caramel browns, whilst leather and suede overlays boast bone and brown hues respectively. Rear clips, tongues, and liners come covered in a chocolate brown hue, as does the mid-foot Three Stripe ribbon with its bright blue piping. Extra additions include utilitarian pulls on the medial ankle and heel — the latter branded with NP Foundation insignia — and removable Velcro tongues featuring the famous reserve. Completing the design is a special set of co-branded graphic insoles that depict the widespread parklands.
Official looks at the pair have already surfaced, indicating a very close release, though a date is yet to be confirmed by adidas.
