Overkill Celebrate 30 Years of adidas Equipment With Special CSG 91 Release

adidas Equipment turns thirty this year, and as part of a widespread campaign to celebrate, the Three Stripes has tapped a slew of long-time collaborative partners to participate in the fun. Next up is their fellow nationals Overkill who get the chance to tinker with a classic model, delivering an inspired take on the adidas Equipment CSG 91.

The Adidas Equipment CSG 91 is a hybrid model and is composed of three different adidas EQT models. The name Equipment CSG 91 is already a little hint about which three models we are talking about. The C in the name stands for “Cushion”, the S for “Support” and the G for “Guidance”. The 91 is a charming reference to the year 1991 when the Equipment series was first launched.

The forefoot area is dedicated to the 91 Guidance. On the toe box is the, for the Guidance 91, typically embroidered shape stripe and with the 3 stripe stitching. The heel area is also from the Guidance. Unlike the Cushion and Support, it has no heel cap. The middle part of the shoe mirrors the 91 Support. The colored 3 stripes stand out in particular. Thanks to subtle pastel colors, the CSG 91 Overkill remains timeless. The hybrid is rounded off with the midsole construction of the Cushion. The look of the CSG 91 Overkill is also rounded off by other material details that are reminiscent of the Cushion.

So it’s safe to say that the Equipment CSG 91 is a tribute to the first generation of adidas Equipment running shoes. “Homage” was the first working title for Overkill’s model the name was changed to CSG 91 for unknown reasons. The working title played a formative role in our color selection. True to the title “Hommage” we wanted to reinterpret the iconic EQT colors green/red/ blue and translate them into modern times. Those who know our passion for pastel tones understand why we wanted to leave a link to the old series with fresh pastel tones. The retailer continued this thought when it came to the color scheme; Marc, CEO of Overkill and Equipment lover from the beginning, took inspiration from the three iconic colors of the first series. Adding a charming twist to the green, red and blue colors with a pastel twist.

The release of the Overkill x adidas Equipment CSG 91 has been penned for an in-store release at the grand opening of Overkill Cologne, with those in Berlin poised to receive pairs a week later on October 23rd.
