When it comes to the adidas A-ZX collection, there’s no such thing as overkill. Well, there is, but not in the sense of doing too much. For the collection’s next installment (The “O”), adidas has teamed up with Berlin-based retailer Overkill for a collaborative ZX 8500 — a fusion of the iconic ZX 8000 and ZX 9000 models.
Anchored in a simple light grey and black base, the retailers flutter in a bevy of bright neon hues inspired by the color palette of Montana Gold graffiti cans — a long-time friend of street-culture in West Germany. Vibrant Neon Pink, Purple, Orange, Light Blue, and Hi-Vis Yellow hits the vamp and quarter, with hand-drawn insignia and over-branding sighted throughout. 3M detailing nods Berlin’s Chrome Bomber history, while a bevy of extra inclusions like paint-protecting shroud overlays, and multiple sets of laces and dubraes complete the design. There is also a collection of matching t-shirts releasing alongside the footwear.
