Continuing their run of impressive collaborations, adidas Skateboarding and Palace have recently unveiled Lucas Puig’s third signature model: the adidas PUIG.
A world away from the Frenchman’s Puig Pro and Premiere ADV, the silhouette keeps its low rise — but that’s about it. Instead of the classic cup-soled, common-shapes we’ve seen from Lucas and adidas, the new PUIG seemingly draws inspiration from the Three Stripe’s extensive history. Its profile is eerily similar to that of the legendary Samba, while the brand’s famed SL series is also prevalent through, most notably on the molded tongues. Sole units are vastly different form anything we’ve seen from Lucas, with multi-faceted treads, distinct midsole, and outsole separation, and unique detailing at the heel.
Uppers on the debut Palace x adidas PUIG are constructed from premium buttery leathers, but may well see material changes on mainline releases. adiTuff reinforcements at the toe remind us that yes, these are meant to be skated in. adiPrene midsoles provide the support and cushioning demanded by pro-level skaters, and the pair is capped off with elegant gold detailing, Palace branding on the lateral midsole, and co-branded tongues and insoles.
The collaboration will release in three color options; “Core Black,” “Chalk White” and “Super Pop” color schemes, all of which will hit adidas.com at 11:00 am ET on May 22nd for $140 a pop.
