adidas Honors Beckham’s Iconic 2001 Greece Free Kick With Special Predator Boots

Whether you fancy him or think he's overrated, David Beckham is an icon. Over the years, the adidas lifetime athlete has launched special-edition projects with the Three Stripes. Today, the adidas Football Team has unveiled two special-edition Predator boots remembering the England-born figure's iconic free kick against Greece on Oct. 6, 2001—a goal that secured his country's spot in the 2002 World Cup™.

The latest capsule honoring Sir David Beckham includes limited-edition styles of the Predator 26 and Predator Precision—the latter being a remake of the exact boots the England national football team captain wore to score versus Greece 25 years ago. Both pairs of Preds feature a white-and-red color scheme to match England's kit in World Cup™-qualifiers in 2001, although the type of red differs between boots: the Predator 26 Elite FT sees "Lucid Red" flair, whereas the Precision remake indulges in a "Vivid Red" hue.

Both pairs, however, are unmistakable homages to Beckham's legacy and the Predator football boot franchise-at-large.

As aforementioned, the Predator Precision remake is a faithful recreation of the boots "Becks" wore ages ago, although the sole plate is that of a modern Predator boot to ensure the retro style meets the demands of today's game.

Direct nods to the former-Manchester United star appear throughout the design in the form of "Beckham" and "7" embroidery, as well as the footballer's logo on the insoles.

By comparison, the commemorative Predator 26 sees a new take on the Beckham-adidas collaborative catalog. A "Footwear White/Silver Metallic/Lucid Red" color scheme takes over the modern set of football boots, which feature most of the callouts seen on the Precision remake. However, what sets the pair apart is the use of Trefoil logos across 3-Stripes branding, the fold-over tongue, insoles, and STRIKEFRAME sole plate underfoot.

This marks only the second time Trefoil logos have appeared on the adidas Predator franchise—the first having been a special-edition Beckham collaboration in 2024.
