Following on from his collaborative 2021 “Love Units” capsule with the Three Stripes, South African designer Rich Mnisi returns to adidas for the first of several footwear selections for the new year — and even by Mnisi’s standards, these are fairly wild. Kicking things off for the partnership is this Rich Mnisi x adidas Ultra BOOST 22, which also gives us a first look at the brand’s newest marquee BOOST model.

First looks at the shoe show a design barely tweaked (we can only note minor changes to the midfoot cage and forefoot weave pattern) but those minimal shifts are in direct conflict with the output from Rich. But, if you’re a fan of the young designer, this shouldn’t come as a shock. His oft-used high-contrast color animal prints and motifs are rife, with prints and weave working from vibrant highlighter hues to muted purples set against (mostly) black and white.
