New Jersey's Sneaker Room Teams Up With adidas For Autism Awareness

Suraj Kaufman has been selling sneakers, building community, and standing for something through his Sneaker Room boutique since 2006. Over the years, the New Jersey-based institution has released meaningful footwear projects with some of the world's most-important brands, consistently donating all proceeds to organizations fighting for a greater good. Come March 2027, Kaufman and team will release an adidas AdiStar Control 2 set to raise awareness for autism and encourage acceptance of autism, too.

The Sneaker Room-founded stepped out in a sample pair of his collaboration on the floor of ComplexCon in Los Angeles. According to him, the eye-catching, multi-colored pair he laced up today is not the retail-edition of his adidas Originals project—the final "color is even crazier."

One of the defining details surrounding Sneaker Room's autism-related adidas shoe is a puzzle piece motif found on the spine. Although the symbol has been rejected by some autism awareness advocates, it appears important to Kaufman's project.

The AdiStar Control 2 isn't currently a sneaker that the Three Stripes offers, but Sneaker Room's upcoming collab signals that the brand is looking to put energy behind the shoe in 2027. Launched in 2004, the second AdiStar Control silhouette was developed for running, but falls in line with chunky shoe trends still popular amongst young consumers.

Sneaker Room's take on the retro runner arrives March 2027 in anticipation of Autism Awareness Month, which is April.
