St. John's University Is Now an Adidas School; First Collection Available Now
It's official: St. John's University is no longer a Nike-backed school. Beginning today, the New York City-based private institution is now part of the Adidas family.
Athletes and fans of St. John's Red Storm will surely enjoy the new partnership as it gives them a chance to rock a mix of heritage and modern products with their alma mater's emblems. The Big East Conference basketball teams may be the most to benefit given Adidas Basketball's current hot streak in the sport. The brand's experience outfitting programs at the University of Louisville, University of Kansas, and other colleges will prove fruitful for the school located in the city's Queens borough.
Specifics of the partnership have yet to pan out, but the inaugural St. John's x Adidas Collection includes 14 different apparel items—ranging from $30 graphic t-shirts to $100 quarter-zip pullovers. Performance footwear like the Adizero EVO SL are sure to appear with nods to Red Storm in the future.
