Adidas Originals has recently unveiled a fashion-forward, women-inspired capsule developed in partnership with Taqwa Bint Ali.

To the uninformed, Bint Ali's name might not ring a bell, but the Paris-based creative has been making a name for herself over the years with Galeries Zarafet, the modest fashion platform she co-founded, and work for Levi's and Jean Paul Gaultier. With a new year underway, the French-Tunisian model and activist has tried her hand at designing footwear, reimagining two silhouettes within the Three Stripes' storied running catalog.

"I wanted my vision for this project to be relatable to all groups of girls, especially in these cities that are so dear to my heart," shared Bint Ali in an Instagram post unveiling her upcoming Adidas Originals collection.

At quick glance, the capsule's offerings are immediately identified as part of the Adistar and Megaride lines, two ranges of performance footwear from decades-past that've found new life within the lifestyle space. Yet, the pairs aren't simple rehashes of past releases: each style has been reimagined with modifications inspired by the fashionable world of ballet. Both silhouettes abandon traditional lacing systems in favor of a Mary Jane-esque update that tells a story close to the designer while simultaneously playing into current womenswear trends.

A tonal 'Iron Metallic' finish takes over Bint Ali's Adistar Pose and Megaride Mary Jane, evoking each model's retro runner spirit. The understated color palette also aligns with Galeries Zarafet's mission. Breathable uppers and tested cushioning ensure the Y2K-friendly offerings provide all-day comfort whether you're in Zarzis, Tokyo, or Paris.

Enjoy official photos of Taqwa Bint Ali's Adidas Originals capsule ahead. The duo is scheduled for a limited release via adidas.com and the adidas CONFIRMED app on Jan. 22.
