Aaron Lashane Thomas—known artistically as Teezo Touchdown—recently teased an Adidas Superstar collaboration. The Texas-native had previously appeared in promotional material celebrating the silhouette's 55th anniversary, with his proper reworking of the "shell-toe" continuing a trend of tapping into niche culture popular amongst youth.
Previewed via an Instagram Reel, the Adidas Originals project is as experimental as the musician's style on-and-off-stage. A simple, two-tone color scheme takes over the decades-old layout across the upper, which dons shaggy faux fur from toe box to Achilles' heel panel. A backstory to the makeover wasn't included in initial teaser material for the collaboration, but it's possible Teezo Touchdown and his Three Stripes team continue to build out a world that explains the eye-catching ensemble.
The 32-year-old and Adidas have invited the public to a presumed launch party for the Superstar in the artist's hometown of Beaumont. The interactive experience and performance by Gracie's Corner takes place at the Beaumont Public Library System (801 Pearl Street) on Saturday, Nov. 1; the event runs from 12-4 p.m. Free tickets quickly "sold out" through an RSVP page.
No word on a firm Adidas.com release have surfaced as of yet, but that's expected to change soon.
