From Juventus to Manchester United — and even the German national team — adidas has had a long history of honoring the great football franchises with footwear releases. The cult-followed Bundesliga stalwarts FC Union Berlin is definitely not the marquee club under the Three Stripe banner, but it’s definitely one of the most passionately supported franchises in the nation. Knowing this, adidas has issued the club with a special-edition Union Berlin x adidas ZX 8000 that will likely — like their supporter base — be a small but concentrated release. *Update: this has now been confirmed to be a 1966 pair release, the year Union Berlin was founded.

Arriving anchored in off-white nylon and cream leather, the pair presents with accentuations in the club’s signature kit colors of golden yellow and red throughout. Liners of pitch-perfect green channel the Stadion An der Alten Försterei turf, while the unmistakable left-slanted UNION wordmark hits the heels beneath fully translucent heel clips. Underfoot you’ll find and aged-look midsole atop a black rubber outsole and the pair is completed by two-tone FC Union Berlin-branded insoles and dubraes — the latter joined by an extra set of engraved metallics.

With pairs scheduled to release in Asia and EU on April 21st, though a Stateside release has not yet been confirmed.
