The Adidas Samba has undergone several changes since its debut in 1949. Although its earliest modifications were rooted in performance benefits, recent history has seen the old school football trainer favor fashionable updates.
Ahead of fall, Adidas Originals has reimagined the thin-soled design as a luxurious sneaker "boot" of sorts. Offered exclusively in Women's sizing, the pair features a standard Samba covered in a navy-and-olive color scheme. Faux snakeskin replaces traditional leather and suede, injecting an elevated air into the sneaker. And while compelling, the pair's most eye-catching detail is the detachable boot-like cover that goes up to the shins.
The cover attaches to the Adidas Samba by way of a brass grommet on the spine. The fashion-friendly element also takes on a dark-colored snakeskin makeover, with trefoil branding opting for "Olive Strata" contrast. Underfoot, the tried-and-proven sole unit keeps things classic in a dark gum finish.
Enjoy official photos of the boot-like Samba ahead. Pairs are expected to release through Adidas.com by October.
