Before Sneaker Politics opened it’s doors in 2006, the southern flagship founder Derek Curry served the United States in a different way; in the military. To honor his time spent wearing fatigues, Curry has pulled in influence from his time in the service to decorate this new Sneaker Politics x ASICS GEL-Lyte III, resulting in one of the most authentic collaborations in recent history.
Through color, material, and embellishment, Derek likens the release back to traditional military uniforms. With its olive-green canvas uppers and tonal suede overlays, black Tiger Stripes, and military-style “POLITICS” badges on the lateral ankle, one gets an instant feel for military-issue fatigues. Tears across the toe simulate wear, all the while paying homage to the United States of America. More specifically to Curry, there’s medial toe detail that reads his years of service, and his founded brandmark resting at the heel. The pair is then complete by a multi-color sole unit of sail, green, black, and gold.
A release date for this military-inspired Sneaker Politics x ASICS GEL-Lyte III has been confirmed for May 30th, with ASICS, Sneaker Politics, and select retailers set to stock the pair come release day.
