Despite launching in 1967, the Clarks Wallabee continues to appear in refreshing ensembles, further cementing its place in fashionable footwear. Its latest makeover arrives courtesy of Compound by Set Free Richardson and is dubbed "MUD CLOTH."
The collaboration lands on Monday, Nov. 2, and draws inspiration from a trip Richardson took to Ghana. There, he built relationships with locals—in particular Joel Ugo Enyinnaya of Jant’s Collection. The brand's Creative Director helped Richardson source handmade Bògòlanfini—the traditional mud cloth from Mali—in order to apply it to the Wallabee collaboration.
The handmade cloth features earthy tones, texture, and patterns that authentically reflect Richardson's admiration of West Africa. A savvy hip-hop enthusiast and cultural figure, the Compound-founder also brought two phrases common to the genre—"Get It From the Mud" and "Cut From a Cloth"—to his Clarks Originals project, tying the shoe back to perseverance, identity, and origins.

Richardson is accompanying the launch of his "MUD CLOTH" collaboration with the release of an original record he co-produced with Buda Da Future and Mike Kuz, featuring Raekwon, Conway The Machine, Styles P, and himself.
The Compound x Clarks Originals linkup launches exclusively online at compound7.shop on on Monday, Nov. 2.
