    Media Day Drip 💧

We’re all gearing up for next weekend’s All-Star festivities in Charlotte, North Carolina. While the game will be as entertaining as ever, most of us are just dialled in for the return of the Air Jordan 6 “Infrared,” the sneaker that Mike debuted during the All-Star game in the same city 28 years earlier.

Michael’s hometown Hornets hosted the Weekend back in 1991, with the GOAT expected to break out another Charlotte-inspired colorway for the game as a follow up to the OG “Grape” Air Jordan 5 the year prior — a sneaker which donned the notorious Hornets palate of purple and teal. And when Mike rolled up to All-Star media day in fresh new Hornets-colored Jordan Brand threads, we all thought it was on.

But a Hornets colorways never came.

Not to say we’re disappointed with the “Infrared” — not at all! But the event would have been the perfect opportunity to represent the host city on the hardwood, especially after the successful launch of the Grape colorway just one year earlier

So, today we’re going back in time to take inspiration from the threads as mentioned previously, and turning them into an Air Jordan 6 for another what could have been colorway. Utilizing an all-purple upper, the sneaker pops with hits of teal blue found in all the usual branding slots, paired with translucent-white and translucent hits on the outsole. Purple branding hits the outsole’s Jumpman with Nike Air in Teal tying up the could have been All-Star theme.

Of course, we’d have loved to have seen this release alongside a matching merchandise capsule, featuring a replica jacket, track pants and more (hell, even that Nissan hat is lit!)
