Presenting their first collaborative output this season, UK retailers END. and Converse have linked up to offer the “Blueprint Pack” – an exploration of two Converse classics, twisted and reinvented.
An asymmetrical reconfiguration of the iconic Jack Purcell and Chuck Taylor 1970 High sneakers, this duo fuses END.’s history as a brick and mortar retailer with Converse’s rich heritage and quintessential American sportswear appeal. Inspired by the original plans for END.’s flagship store in London’s bustling Soho district, the pack charts the similarities between footwear and architectural design processes. Embellished with contrast stitching and printed grid patterns, the sneakers are designed to emulate the aesthetic properties of an intricate floorplan. Detailed with dual-branded insoles, a grid print to the interior reflects the design process further. Underfoot, a translucent outsole completes the look, serving up a contrasting pop of emerald green and a final representation of the sneaker’s visual language.
Constructed with Converse’s classic 12oz canvas and nubuck leather respectively, each foot delivers an alternative take on the central theme. Ensuring continuity between the two styles, END. and Converse introduce hits of semi-transparent TPU film across the uppers to ensure an eye-catching inflection of technical design. Housed in a bespoke emerald green box that mimics the aesthetic of the sneakers, END. and Converse pay homage to the all-important planning stages of design.
