Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Returns With an Upscale Converse Pro Leather Ox

With the announcement of their partnership back in July last year, sneaker and OKC fans were waiting very patiently for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Converse’s first collaboration — and boy did he deliver. his MCA-like Pro Leather Ox from October was fairly simple, but that was just a taste of things to come. Now, with a boost of confidence in his step, Shai has unveiled his sophomore Converse sneaker, again a Pro Leather Ox, again with some high-end inspiration.

An ostensible nod to Japanese fashion label COMME des GARÇONS, the shoe’s paneling showcases warped overlays and excess stitching akin to the CDG Air Force 1 that hit the runway last year. Just take one look at the eyestay and toe cap overlays that extend well over the typical stitch line — exactly how CDG delivered their Uptowns. Tongues are stuffed and forefeet are quilted to add some bulk to the traditionally streamlined shoe, before reaching a fairly tame back end — save the exotic liners. Branding is kept minimal, with tonal finished applied to the midfoot overlays and tongue debossing, whilst a solitary SGA in gold foil sits at the midfoot. The pair is then completed by an in-vogue sail sole unit.

Take a glance at the pair here below, and look for the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander x Converse Pro Leather Ox to release at select stores in the not-too-distant future.
