Kings Coach Dave Joerger Throws Shade at Own Front Office for Passing on Luka Doncic
For eons, NBA fans will be asking whether Marvin Bagley was the right choice over Luka Doncic for the Sacramento Kings in 2018’s NBA Draft. Only time will tell, and there is no doubt that the two players will be linked together for their entire careers, however long they may last.
Kings fans were initially hyped at the prospect of Bagley and Doncic going at it on the floor Sunday night, but the process has been delayed for now, with Bagley rehabbing a knee injury.
Regardless, Kings head coach Dave Joerger seems to be pondering the question of whether he’d rather have Bagley or Doncic as well in his latest quote.
Kings coach Dave Joerger on Luka Doncic: “Perhaps there was an idea that there was a ceiling on him. I don’t see it, unfortunately for us. But he’s great for them and he’s great for our league.”

The common criticism against Luka is that Bagley’s ceiling is much higher than his counterpart, once he adds a little weight and can play some defense.
It seemed Kings GM Vlade Divac likely wanted to build around giving De’Aaron Fox and Bogdan Bogdanovic possession, but…man, Luka’s so smooth. You certainly could’ve used him.

These are the decisions that make or break franchises. For the Kings, finally in a bit of a rhythm, it’s clear things could’ve broken just a little better if they’d taken Doncic. Even their coach k.
