OG Post 12.21.19 // The Summer Games head to Tokyo next year, and to go along with a handful of expected special-edition Nike’s to celebrate the 32nd Olympiad, Jordan Brand has also something special planned: a potential return of 2001’s ultra-limited
There were several key elements to this turn-of-the-century pack. Firstly, the Japan Pack is earmarked as the first time Jordan Brand introduced non-original colorways of the Air Jordan 1 High to the market. Secondly, the “Japan” pack was the very first country-exclusive Air Jordan 1 release. And finally, Jordan Brand moved away from a traditional shoebox to house the releases in special briefcase-like packaging.
The pack consisted of four Japan-exclusive colorways, each limited to a small-batch release. The Neutral Grey/White/Metallic Silver was limited to just 2001 pairs, while the White/Midnight Navy-Metallic Silver, Black/Black/Metallic Silver, and White/White/Midnight Navy each received a 3000 pair production. Now it appears that at least two of those colorways will return in celebration of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games
Earlier this year we reported on an upcoming Air Jordan 1 High OG in Neutral Grey/Metallic Silver— now, word has arrived that this pair will be dubbed “Tokyo,” and will release on July 25th — the same day that the events kick off in Japan. There’s also been reports of a retrospective release of the pack’s Midnight Navy edition for 2020, although a date hasn’t been specified. After speaking with a few sources, the return of the Neutral Grey/Metallic Silver is a lock — but there is still a question mark of confirmation over the Midnight Navy release. As for the black and white pairs? There’s no word yet — but we’ll be sure to keep you updated with any and all information via our Twitter Feed. Stay tuned for more.
