The have been plenty of “what could have been” releases over the years, but over the last few, it seems that the Air Jordan 1 KO has been the subject of many of those what ifs. The lesser-loved OG Air Jordan 1 model from the mid-1980s saw a paisley pair that didn’t quite make it to market — rumors were that the print was in breach of a trademark — much to the disgust of the community. But this 2019 sample may blow that completely out of the water, with this Air Jordan 1 KO “Sashiko” appearing online this week courtesy of @bitchlikemykicks

Clas from toe to tail in washed denim, the pair tacks on sashiko-style stitching at the mid panel and heel, with in-cut Swooshes and navy panel trim. There’s more navy on the leather collar and liner, with bright white laces and soles rounding out the sample design.

Why the pair never made it to market remains a mystery, but we can’t front: we’re a little upset that it didn’t.

Grab a very first look at the Air Jordan 1 KO “Sashiko” here below, and barring any magical resurrection, the pair will likely stay in the Nike HQ vault.
