Air Jordan 1 Mid “Comic Book” Goes Full Gotham

Jordan Brand’s comic book-inspired footwear story is expanding this summer, with the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Comic Book” set to join the upcoming Air Jordan 4 as part of a broader graphic-led theme for Mike’s signature line.

Where the Air Jordan 4 leans into a brighter mix of white and pink, the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Comic Book” takes the opposite route. This pair is dressed predominantly in black, giving the design a darker, inked-out foundation that feels more like the shadowed panels of a vintage comic strip than a traditional summer release.

The upper combines smooth black leather overlays with halftone-style textile mid-panels, adding subtle texture and depth without relying on loud color blocking. The Swoosh is kept tonal, blending into the sidewall, while the collar Wings badge receives a translucent metallic finish that gives the shoe one of its strongest detail hits. Up top, comic-style Jumpman branding appears on the tongue, bringing the theme into clearer focus without overdoing the reference.

Underfoot, the pair is finished with a black midsole and a bold “Opti Yellow” rubber outsole, giving the otherwise dark design its main burst of comic-book energy. That sharp contrast helps tie the shoe back to the wider collection, while still allowing this Mid to stand on its own as the moodier counterpart to the upcoming Air Jordan 4.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid “Comic Book” is expected to release in July 2026 via Nike.com and select retailers.
