Quite often we’ve observed that the Air Jordan 1 Midhas looked to old-school colorways for inspiration. With countless OG-inspired takes, to more recent releases, like Kawhi Leonard’s “Pass the Torch”. Now the silhouette looks to one of Jordan Brand’s earliest collaborations, the Levi’s x Air Jordan 1 Mid from 2008.
Any old head will instantly recognize the likeness, with a near-identical color blocking surfacing on this new release. While denim uppers, red overlays, contrast-stitched Tan checks, and gum outsoles remain, there are some noticeable take-downs from the premium-constructed collaboration. Notably, there is an absence of any Levi’s branding, indicating that this will be a run-of-the-mill release. Printed elephant print denim uppers revert to a traditional washed denim, while red overlays arrive in suede — a change-up from the Levi’s smooth leathers. They do, however, arrive with a similar gold contrast stitch. The tan Swoosh is almost identical, though its red stitch lines are more refined, while its sole stays true to its inspiration. Other notable omissions include the metallic gold eyestays, heel Jumpman, and jelly Wings logo — the latter replaced by a debossed finish in a golden hue.
