With the years ever-growing between those who wear Michael Jordan’s shoes and those who saw him play, Jordan Brand has taken a proactive approach to teach the next generation of sneakerheads about the NBA legend through their series of “Sneaker School” releases. From “Bred” Air Jordan 1 Mids that explain the titular nicknameto releases that celebrate his iconic NCAA Championship shot, the brand is ensuring that the future generation continues to hold the brand’s namesake in high regard. This new Air Jordan 1 Mid “Rookie Season” continues those teachings, as it highlights MJ’s first professional season from the NBA Draft to his Rookie of the Year trophy.

Clad in Chicago colors, the pair looks to simple white leathers for its majority, with high-gloss overlays of red at the ankle flap and Swoosh. The former slots in an iridescent Wings motif for good measure. From there, the pair is struck with a handful of translucent TPU overlays at the forefoot, heel, and tongue — each decorated with special designs. Working from front to back, you’ll note Mike’s John Hancock at the forefoot while standard Jumpman Air branding hits the tongue. The heel details Michael’s draft night stats, including his round, pink, and position, as well as his selection to the Chicago Bulls. Fast forward to the end of that season, and his ROTY stats are emblazoned across the pair’s insoles; 28.2 PPG, 6.5 REB, 5.9 AST — not bad at all.
