Air Jordan 1 Mid “Split” Surfaces in Blue, Black and White

Split blocking is back in vogue for Jordan Brand, with a third iteration of the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Split” appearing in blue, black and white.

Back in 2018, Jordan Brand delivered a special-edition “Homage to Home” Air Jordan 1 that split the OG Chicago and Bred colorways right down the middle. With Bred blocking on the lateral and Chicago blocking on the medial, the brand birthed an entirely new way to color block the Air Jordan 1, though it hadn’t been seen until the recent unveiling of the black and white Low and Mid, and more recently, the Air Jordan 1 Mid in Beach and Cherrywood. Unlike those, this pair doesn’t proffer a complete inversion of the other side; instead, opting for two different blocking spliced into one.

Here, the lateral side honors the ultra-limited “Board of Governors” colorway, with blue uppers and black leather overlays. Like that pair, the medial side also sports white on the upper, but its overlays look blue. Of course, there’s more to this pair that makes it different, including Valerian Blue tints instead of royal, tumbled leather instead of smooth, and all-around quality control will in no way match up to the 88-pair production of the Family and Friends OG High; but it’s likely that this will be the closest we ever get.

While an official release date for this new Air Jordan 1 Mid “Split” in Blue, Black, and White has yet to be revealed, available imagery for the pair would indicate that these would likely be scheduled soon. Until more news arrives, grab a very first look at the release here below, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
