In a tribute to basketball icon Carmelo Anthony's rookie season, Jordan Brand is set to re-release the 2004 Air Jordan 12 "Melo" in Summer 2025. This sneaker first captured the attention of fans and collectors when it debuted exclusively in women's sizing early in 2004, closely associated with Carmelo's standout rookie run with the Denver Nuggets.
The "Melo" colorway was made available in men’s sizes on May 15, 2004, retailing at $135. This release marked Jordan Brand’s second retro tied to the rookie, following the limited launch of the Air Jordan 2 “Melo” in April of that year. The sneaker featured a striking design with all-white uppers and University Blue trim on the heel, liner, and rubber sole, complemented by pops of metallic silver on the eyestays.
In 2016, the Air Jordan 12 "Melo" returned once again as a kids' exclusive, this time with gold eyestays that more closely mirrored Carmelo's original Denver PE. However, the anticipated 2025 re-release promises to deliver a true-to-original experience, replicating the 2004 retail version that made the "Melo" a coveted item among Jordan collectors.
Set to release on April 5th 2025, first peeks at the shoe won't become available for months; until then, though, you can reacquaint yourself with the original 2004 release below.
