It’s been a tumultuous start for the Air Jordan 36; an unveiling of Olympic PEs, an official launch date followed by an onslaught of delayed releases, and the obligatory hate from retro heads towards a modern performance model — the newest Signature Air Jordan has seen it all. Now it reappears in a colorful new scheme for the new year — perhaps even hinting at the Lunar New Year, given its Eastern influence.
Though it’s not officially linked to the brand’s Chinese New Year efforts, it strikes a remarkable resemblance to colorways seen in previous years. Its gold-to-purple gradient uppers are delivered in Asian-style weaves, with iridescent midsole detail and golden accents also featuring — also oft-seen elements on CNY releases. All of this is encased in black framing and rests atop a marled light and dark grey sole unit to complete the design.
