Despite Michael Jordan’s signature sneaker line now heavily affiliated with street style, it has, and always will be a performance-first product. As always, his models have often been a topic for debate — even his early models were touted as ugly — and the Air Jordan 36 will be no different. The Air Jordan 34 was arguably the most revolutionary model in years, and its subsequent editions in the 35 and now the Air Jordan 36 appear to evolve the model even further into the future.

A first-look by Isatou “Satou” Sabally earlier in the week gave us a hint at the pair’s design tweaks, but now Jordan Brand athlete Jayson Tatum has revealed the sneaker on-court and in great detail. Though its collars and use of the Eclipse plate appear in familiar fashion, they both appear to have shrunk in height, though the latter is expected to provide comparable durable and responsive support. An Air Jordan 6 inspiration is present in both the tongue neoprene, tongue shroud, and heel protrusion. Uppers on this particular pair arrive a muddled synthetic weave of purple and black, though it is very possible that this textile will change from model to model. Midsoles are fitted with color streaks – another nod to the Air Jordan 6 — while outsoles return in low rise form complete with herringbone-like traction.

Update 08.06.21 Retailers Finish Line and JD Sports has confirmed a release for the Air Jordan 36 in Gradeschool sizing for September 2nd. Alongside this news, official images of the pair have landed (also in GS sizing). Stay tuned for details on a Nike.com drop, as well as updates to the Where to Buy Guide below.
