In recent years, Jordan Brand has sparked a trend with the "Thunder" series of Air Jordan 4s, like the "White Thunder" from this past month and earlier "Red Thunder" and "Thunder" iterations. These releases have inspired a flurry of fan-made concepts, creatively reimagining the iconic silhouette in new colors. The latest in this series of speculative designs is the Air Jordan 4 "Black UNC."
This conceptual design substitutes the vibrant accent color typical of the Thunder series with University Blue, a nod to Michael Jordan's collegiate roots at UNC. This duo of hues isn't new to the Jordan lineup, having graced the likes of the Air Jordan 6, 14, and 5, making it feel right at home against the retros of yesteryear.
With Jordan Brand's history of releasing a new Thunder variant annually, a "Black UNC"—or any other color-swapped scheme—in 2025 is possible.
Given the pattern of past releases and the strong fan response to mock-ups, this colorway could very well transition from concept to reality, offering a new take on the classic color blocking that has proven successful across several Jordan models.
Keep an eye out; we might just see this colorway make its official debut one day soon.
