Alternate “Purple Grape” Air Jordan 5s to Release in 2020
Update 10.05.19 // A release date for the Air Jordan 5 “Purple Grape” has been penciled in for June 27th, according to notorious leaker @DJFolk. Stay tuned for more.
OG Post 05.17.19 // 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 5, and with it will see a flurry of colorways, new and old, OG and otherwise. And today we’re getting the first word of a retro release for next year, and it comes in the form of a “Purple Grape”. It serves as an alternate for the OG, which first released in 1990, and has since seen two other alternate takes in 2015’s “Pre Grape” and 2013’s “Black Grape.” The latter was originally rumored to return when the news broke yesterday, a story that was quickly quashed by sneaker leaker @DJFolk shortly after via Twitter, saying that the pair will indeed be purple-based.
According to Folk, the pair will be released next April, so, being months away, first looks aren’t yet available. But based off the alternate nature of the pair and the leaked color block listing, we have created a Photoshop rendering of what may eventuate. Stay tuned into HOUSE OF HEAT for more details over the coming months, including a first look!
