Originally released in 2006, the Air Jordan 5 “Black/University Blue” is reportedly set to return in July 2026 — marking its 20th anniversary, according to leakers SneakerMarketRO, Zsneakerheadz, and Sneakerfiles. This comeback continues Jordan Brand’s ongoing trend of reviving fan-favorite mid-2000s colorways, and it’s one that’s sure to resonate with longtime collectors.

The 2006 release was defined by its clean yet bold contrast, with a black nubuck upper complemented by University Blue inner lining, Jumpman branding, and midsole detailing. Reflective tongues, translucent netting, and lace locks gave it the signature AJ5 DNA, while the icy outsole and visible Air unit underfoot completed the look.

If the 2026 retro follows the modern “Reimagined” approach, we can expect the pair to stay true to its OG form — possibly with improved materials and slight adjustments to shape.

The Air Jordan 5 “Black/University Blue” is expected to release on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at select retailers and on Nike.com.

Stay tuned for more details, confirmed imagery, and pricing updates as the 20th anniversary retro approaches.
