In a nod to Mexico's rich history, Jordan Brand is set to release a special Air Jordan 5 in September, coinciding with the annual observance of El Grito de Independencia, also known as the Cry Of Dolores. This celebration marks the start of the Mexican War of Independence, a pivotal moment in the country's history initiated by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla on September 16th, 1810.
Every year, on the eve of September 16th, this historic event is commemorated, with the President of Mexico re-enacting the Cry of Dolores at the National Palace in Mexico City, using the same bell that Hidalgo rang.
The upcoming Air Jordan 5 "El Grito" will honor this significant occasion with a color palette that includes Sail, Coconut Milk, Pine Green, and Dark Pony, along with White and University Red; Premium construction will be at the forefront of design. Outside of the unmistakable color palette, Jordan Bradn has deployed traditional Mexican architectural inspiration to both the heel and toe cap debossing for a more authentic feel.
