In a nod to Mexico's rich history, Jordan Brand is set to release a special Air Jordan 5 in September, coinciding with the annual observance of El Grito de Independencia, also known as the Cry Of Dolores. This celebration marks the start of the Mexican War of Independence, a pivotal moment in the country's history initiated by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla on September 16th, 1810.
Every year, this historic event is commemorated on the eve of September 16th, with the President of Mexico re-enacting the Cry Of Dolores at the National Palace in Mexico City, using the same bell that Hidalgo rang.
The upcoming Air Jordan 5 will honor this significant occasion with a color palette that includes Diffused Taupe, Dark Pony, Sail, and Apple Green. While the exact design and color arrangement remain under wraps, the anticipation is building for what promises to be a meaningful and culturally rich sneaker release.
