Numbers game.
What numbers did Michael Jordan wear during his career? Is always a straightforward trivia question. 23, obviously, and who could forget the return in #45. Avid Jordan fans also know that he wore #9 for team USA. But there’s a fourth — albeit it only for one game.
Prior to suiting up on Valentine’s Day in 1990 at the Orlando Arena in Orlando for the Bulls’ road game against the Magic, Jordan’s game jersey went missing — said to be stolen by an avid Mike fan on the Magic’s staff. So, with no backup jersey packed and the team’s leader needing a jersey for the game, the Bulls broke out the loner — a No. 12 with no name across the back.

Of course, the hardcore-hardcore sneakerheads know what was on foot. The Silver Tongue or Fire Red 3M Air Jordan 5. And now, it’s rumored to return in February of 2020. According to Sneakerfiles, the OG Air Jordan will be getting its first release since 2013, but unlike its last appearance, this pair is said to return Nike Air branding to the heels — but we’ve got a feeling it might not be a full OG retro. February 14th, 2020 will mark 30 years since the infamous incident, and let’s be real, there are never any coincidences when it comes to Jordan Brand. So could next year’s Fire Red #M arrive with #12 PE branding on the lateral ankle? It would make a lot of sense — and one hell of a release.
Stay tuned for more.
